How Red Bull Uses Their Social Media for Business

How Red Bull Uses Their Social Media for Business

Red Bull is a company whose Facebook is frequently visited. Their Facebook page has nearly 41 million likes. With so many people on their page Red Bull is able to use Facebook as a way to sell their image. Their image is of a company that is on the edge. They deliver videos with countless acts of adrenaline while entertaining us with raw footage of people doing amazing things. As I type this there is a video of a man going down a huge waterfall in a kayak. These are the type of videos Red Bull is linking and sponsoring that inspire us to say "HOLY COW, DID YOU SEE THAT"!? This is part of the plan to sell the Red Bull "lifestyle". One that is as adventurous as anything you can find on the web. I believe that you will not find a better collection of WOW videos anywhere else.

Red Bull has also been doing this since the beginning. They decided early what their image was going to be and stayed with it. Red Bull also uses its Facebook page to advertise the events that they are sponsoring whether it be their Flugtag Event (which people design their own flying machines and compete which one can do the best), The Heroes by Nature Snowboard Night, or showcasing a 12 year old doing the first 1080 ramp jump ever recorded. Red Bull has been a leader in showcasing what they want as part of their image and plastering it everywhere. Red Bull uses social media as a complement to the other advertising they do. The Red Bull marketing plan is a multi headed hydra attacking everywhere that they can to showcase the Red Bull lifestyle. When they do show the activities that they sponsor the focus of the commercial or video isn't the drink Red Bull, but of the Red Bull image of adrenaline junkies doing things that we might not even have thought of. At the same time, however: when we see those two bulls, or even one bull, we know what is being advertised with out them telling us. This is a sign of great advertising.

By having so much traffic on their webpage it has created its own niche market. Red Bull is the biggest name in adrenaline sports in the world. Red Bull also responds to people who post on Facebook. This engaging behavior, that Red Bull seems to have mastered, is what I believe is driving the success. If you have a fan base doing remarkable things outside of basic sports its only natural to make sure you keep your social media engaging to match them. Red Bull has to keep up with its fan base and it is doing just that as well as showcasing it. What an amazing way to interact with your fans. When they do something amazing both parties reap the benefits. Red Bull is using its fan base as a resource to continually improve its marketing of their product. When you listen to the fans you will have success and Red Bull is a perfect example of that.
